12th Codex Coordination Meeting of the Arab National Contact Points
The Arab Codex Community Reviews Agenda Items of the upcoming 16th Session of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Food (CCCF).
Under the leadership of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSM) and supported by the Global Food Regulatory Science Society (GFoRSS) and Laval University’s Food Risk Analysis and Regulatory Excellence Platform (PARERA), delegates from 16 Arab countries, contributed to 12th meeting of Arab Codex Contact Points, held virtually on April 4, 2023.
Agenda items of focus included the development of a Code of Practice for Casava, the establishment of Maximum Levels for Lead (Pb) in raw and less refined sugars as well as foods destined to infants and young children, as well as Maximum Levels of Mycotoxins in spices and their relevant sampling.
Arab delegates exchanged positions on these items and committed to continued investment in data collection and sharing to support the development and evaluation of impacts of proposed international standards on food and agri-food products produced and/or sold in the Arab region.
