*Preliminary processing of GFoRSS Non-Affiliated (Class B) application submissions take place during the first week of the subsequent month (for the previous month’s applications), you can expect to receive acknowledgement regarding the status of your application during this timeframe.

B. WHO CAN APPLY?
GFoRSS membership is open to professionals engaged in food regulatory science, including:
Scientists and regulators from governmental food authorities
Academics and researchers
Experts from certification bodies, laboratories, and service providers
Applicants must demonstrate relevant expertise in disciplines supporting food regulatory science.
Membership Categories (By-Law Section 6)
GFoRSS defines two main membership classes:
Class B – Non-Affiliated Membership
This is the entry-level membership.
Eligibility:
- • Professionals with expertise in food regulatory science
- • Must not be affiliated with industry
Key Features:
- • Open and inclusive admission process
- • Enables participation in GFoRSS activities and networks
- • Does not include voting rights or participation in formal member meetings
Class A – Affiliated Membership
This is the full membership status with governance privileges.
Eligibility Requirements:
- • Must first be a Class B member
- • Requires endorsement by a GFoRSS Board member
- • Subject to evaluation of qualifications and contributions
Approval Process:
- • Candidate is presented to the Board with a supporting CV
- • Membership is granted through a 2/3 majority Board decision
Key Privileges:
- • Right to attend, receive notice of, and vote at member meetings
- • Active participation in governance and strategic direction
Membership Conditions (By-Law Section 7)
Membership Fees
- • No membership fees are required
- • Membership is free of charge, subject to eligibility criteria
Termination of Membership
Membership may be terminated if:
- • The member resigns or passes away
- • The membership term expires
- • The member is expelled due to non-compliance or misconduct
- • The organization is dissolved
Discipline and Compliance
Members may be suspended or expelled for:
- • Violating GFoRSS bylaws or policies
- • Conduct deemed detrimental to the organization
- • Other justified reasons as determined by the Board
A formal notice and response process is ensured before final decisions.
C. How to Become a Member?
Step 1 – Apply for Class B Membership
