ILMERAC brings together leading international food safety institutions to advance scientific cooperation, promote innovative risk assessment methodologies, and strengthen the harmonization of approaches to chemical risk assessment in food and feed.

As an observer organization within ILMERAC, GFoRSS contributed to the discussions, including by moderating a dedicated panel on capacity building in food risk assessment.

🌍 Africa was at the forefront of these exchanges, with the active participation of representatives from the African Food Regulatory Authorities Forum (AFRAF), highlighting the continent’s priorities, experiences, and opportunities for strengthening scientific capacities.

The discussions reinforced the importance of international collaboration and ensuring that countries with developing risk assessment capacities can increasingly become active contributors to global risk assessment science.

GFoRSS was privileged to contribute, through Prof. Samuel Godefroy, to the National Workshop held in Jakarta on 10 September, as part of the process leading up to Indonesia’s XII National Food and Nutrition Summit (WNPG XII).

GFoRSS presented the role of food regulatory science as an “operating system” for food-system transformation—connecting science and evidence with regulation, responsible innovation, consumer trust and, ultimately, societal impact.

The discussions reinforced a powerful proposition: food embodies National Wealth. Indonesia’s extraordinary biodiversity, agricultural and marine resources, indigenous foods, scientific capacity and entrepreneurship can be harnessed to deliver safer and more nutritious foods, stronger food safety performance, greater innovation and value addition, improved livelihoods and national prosperity.

GFoRSS is pleased to support this important national thought process and Indonesia’s ambition for a healthier, more resilient, innovative and prosperous food system.

The Global Food Regulatory Science Society (GFoRSS), represented by Prof. Samuel Godefroy, is privileged to contribute to Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to transform its food and nutrition system—towards greater sustainability, food security and resilience.

A key part of this transformation is harnessing food innovation as a catalyst for development, supported by modern, science-based and innovation-ready food regulatory systems. Food regulatory science can provide an important enabling foundation, helping innovation advance while maintaining consumer protection and public trust.

We look forward to continuing this dialogue and contributing to the agenda ahead, alongside Indonesia’s Government, academic, industry and food-system leaders.
