WORKSHOP ON DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS FOR CODEX PROCEEDINGS
30-31 July 2025 • Sultanate of Oman
Workshop Objectives
This two-day workshop is designed to strengthen the capacity of Codex stakeholders in the Arab and CCNE region, including National Contact Points, and actors from the food production and trade sectors, to contribute scientifically robust data, particularly to the GEMS/Food Database. The workshop will enhance participants’ understanding of the scientific underpinnings of Codex work, with a focus on the role of data in the development of international food standards. Through targeted training, participants will build their skills in collecting, submitting and analyzing data to support evidence-based Codex standards development.
Specific objectives include:
- Enhancing knowledge of the Codex risk analysis framework
- Sharing best practices in data generation, collection, and utilization for Codex standard setting
- Improving competencies in using the GEMS/Food Database for data submission and analysis
- Strengthening negotiation skills related to the use of scientific data in Codex discussions
